Volumetric surveys and area surveys are designed to calculate quantities of key construction materials like aggregate (sand, rocks, gravel, etc.), concrete, asphalt, and other resources. Measuring stockpiles or determining materials extracted from mines or quarries can be used to manage or minimize construction costs or also to pay contractors based on actual material volumes.
A volume survey is a variation of a topographic survey where particular attention is paid to levels and break lines. Challenger uses both High Definition Scanning (also known as 3D Laser Scanning) as well as LiDAR and GPS received to collect the data needed to perform highly accurate calculations for our clients.
