Forty years ago, a vision was born —a vision of precision, dedication, and commitment to the art and science of geomatics. Today, as we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we reflect on the remarkable journey that has led us to this milestone. Join us as we reminisce about our humble beginnings, celebrate our achievements, and look forward to the future with renewed vigor and passion.
As we’ve ramped up to our 40th anniversary it’s been great to look back on many of the innovative and interesting projects we’ve been able to work on. I have a glimpse into what’s next for Challenger and can say that there’s a lot more to come. The cookie cutter approach to projects is less and less applicable and this sets Challenger up to thrive more than ever.

Humble Beginnings:
It all started four decades ago, with a small team of passionate surveyors determined to make a difference in the industry. Armed with little more than ambition and expertise, we set out to provide unparalleled service to our clients, earning their trust and respect one project at a time. Through hard work, perseverance, and unwavering dedication, we gradually established ourselves as a trusted name in the field of geomatics.

A Legacy of Excellence:
Over the years, we have had the privilege of contributing to countless projects, large and small, across 4 continents, countless countries and diverse sectors—from oil and gas, construction, land development, renewable energy, utilities, land claims, and mining. Our commitment to excellence, accuracy, and innovation has been the cornerstone of our success, starting with developing our own navigation and potions system which was used all over the world on various offshore projects. This has earned us a reputation for quality and reliability. Along with advancing surveying techniques to save our clients money and time on their projects, we’ve also focused on strengthening our joint venture partnerships along with forming 6 Indigenous Partner Companies, including: Inukshuk Geomatics Inc., Sahtu Geomatics Ltd., Det’on Cho Challenger Geomatics LP., Deetrin Geomatics Ltd., Kitikmeot Challenger LP., Dena Nezziddi Challenger LP.

Adapting to Change:
As the industry evolved and technology advanced, we embraced change with open arms, continuously upgrading our skills, tools and developed our own systems to stay ahead of the curve. From traditional surveying methods to state-of-the-art equipment such as GPS, LiDAR, and drones, we have embraced technological advancements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and safety of our operations and continue to do so. From the very beginning we’ve developed our own systems and to this day, continue to do so with off shore navigation and potions system, vehicle navigation and tracking systems, log yard crane collision avoidance systems, stylesheets and auto processing technology.

Our success is not measured solely by profits but by the positive difference we make in people’s lives, the communities we work in and the environment.

As we celebrate this significant milestone, we are filled with gratitude for the trust and support of our clients, partners, and employees who have been with us every step of the way. Looking ahead, we are excited about the opportunities and challenges that the future holds.
In celebrating 40 years of excellence in geomatics, we reaffirm our commitment to our core values of accountability, teamwork, and service.
